Fostering Young Musicians
In the summer of 2021, the Quietside Chamber Music Festival was pleased to host its first youth ensemble. Consisting of Mount Desert Island students Jane Pope (violin), Cate Pope (cello), and Eva Crikelair (piano), the group prepared the Andante from Cécile Chaminade’s “Piano Trio No. 1”. As participants in the festival, they were given a master class by guest artist Sarah Shreder and then enjoyed the opportunity to perform their piece. The trio played beautifully and used the experience to further their musical studies.
This season we welcome Charlie Picone, a violist who won the Bangor Symphony’s concerto competition for youth this year. The quartet will be coached by local artists and will perform Joaquin Turina’s piano quartet in July at one of the concerts.
